Eduroam for students, employees, and visitors

Eduroam is AU’s wireless network for students, employees and visitors from other research and teaching institutions.

Installation of eduroam is important for the protection of your username and password when using AU's wifi.

Apple iOS has changed. The CATTOOL does not pop up. When the file is downloaded the profile needs to be installed through settings. Start Then general and profile. Otherwise see step-by-step guide.

Guide

Run the program, which can be downloaded from cat.eduroam.org , (Android program geteduroam Google Play)
Your user name is au<AUID>@uni.au.dk (ex: au123456@uni.au.dk )
Use the same password that you normally use on AU's systems or your AU webmail

Step-by-Step guide

IOS devices

Iphone iOS 17.x.x

The pictures in this guide are from an iPhone with iOS version 17.3.1. The screenshots might look a bit different on both older and newer versions of iOS.

Start by downloading the setup profile from cat.eduroam.org

1. Check that it says Aarhus University

2. Press the blue button "eduroam" (You might need to scroll down)

3. Allow download of config file

4. Close the window

5. From "home screen" choose settings.

6. Press general

7. Under general scroll down to the bottom and click on VPN and Device Management

8. Press on eduroam to install the profile

9. Choose install to config eduroam

10. Write your password for your iPhone/iPad

11. Press install

13. Write your username. Your username is: au<AUID>@uni.au.dk (E.g. au123456@uni.au.dk)

15. The installation is finished. Press OK

16. When you see this screenshot, and eduroam is showing up on the list, then the installation is finished correctly

Windows devices

Windows 11

For older versions of Windows please refer to the guide below.

Start by downloading the setup file from cat.eduroam.org

1. Check it says Aarhus University

2. Press the blue "eduroam" button

3. og 4. Find the downloaded file by either pressing the button shown on 3. Or by finding it in the folder Downloads shown on 4.

5. When you've opened the program choose Next >

6. Press OK

7. Write in your username. Your username is au<AUID>@uni.au.dk (Fx au123456@uni.au.dk)

8. Write your password and repeat it in the box below. Your password is the same, that you use on mit.au.dk or your AU webmail

9. When you're shown this screen, then the installation is finished and you can close the window by pressing Finish. Now you should be on Eduroam with a certificate.

Android devices

Android version 14.x

The pictures in this guide are from a Samsung Galaxy S22 with Android OS 14.

Please be aware of the following:

- Do not connect to Eduroam while setting up the network

- Eduroam must be removed from the list of connected network before the installation, if you've been connected to Eduroam before. This can be achieved by forgetting Eduroam under network settings.

1. Open your play store or press on the link above

2. Press on the search icon and type in geteduroam

3. Press on the geteduroam app

4. Press install

5. Open the app when the installation is finished

6. Press on the searchbar

7. Search for Aarhus University in the searchbar and choose Aarhus University

8. Choose Aarhus Universitet under profiles and press connect

9. Type in your username which in this case is your auID@uni.au.dk. It is the same you use for e.g. mit.au.dk or mitstudie.au.dk

10. Type in the password that you use for e.g. mit.au.dk or mitstudie.au.dk

11. Press on save

12. Close the app

13. Press allow to automatically connect to Eduroam. The installation is now finished and you should able to connect to Eduroam.

Mac devices

macOS Sonoma 14.x

Start by downloading the setup profile from cat.eduroam.org

1. Start by checking that you've chosen Aarhus University

2. Choose eduroam, and then the download should start

3. Now the program should be downloaded, and it should be showing automatically. If not, then you can show the list by clicking on the down arrow as shown. Then click on the downloaded file.

4. Now you should be shown a notification. After this open the settings app.

5. Search "Profiles" in the settings app

6. Click on profiles

7. Doubleclick on eduroam

8. Choose install

9. Choose continue to install the profile

10. Write your AU-id as shown below and here: (auxxxxxx@uni.au.dk)

11. Write your password (The same one you us for mitstudie.au.dk or mit.au.dk)

12. Write your username you use for the computer

13. Write the password you use to unlock your computer

14. Now you should be able to see eduroam under profiles, and then you have access to the eduroam network

macOS Ventura 13.5 and older

Start by downloading the setup profile at https://cat.eduroam.org/

1. Click on the blue button to download the program

2. Press Allow to download eduroam

Go to Systempreferences

3. Find Profiles in the searchbar

4. Press on eduroam under Profiles

5. Press Install...

6. Press Continue to install the eduroam profile

7. Enter your AU-id as shown below (auXXXXXX@uni.au.dk)

8. Then your password (same as on mitstudie.au.dk)

9. Press Install

Installation of eduroam is now complete

macOS Big Sur 11.7.9 and older

Start by downloading the setup profile at https://cat.eduroam.org/

1. Click on the blue button to download the program

2. Open the file in your "downloads" folder

3. Navigate to system preferences on your mac

4. Go to "profiles"

5. Click on install as shown below

6. Click on continue installation

7. Enter your AU-id (auXXXXXX@uni.au.dk) as shown below, followed by your password (same as used on mitstudie.au.dk)

8. Click on install as shown above

9. A second confirmation is needed if the AU-Guest wifi is in use when installing eduroam

10. Installation of eduroam is complete

For staff

If you are using a PC supplied by AU with Windows 10 or 11, you don’t need to install eduroam yourself. All you need to do is connect to eduroam and enter your user name and password as described below. The rest has already been set up for you.

Terms and conditions

By using Aarhus University’s wireless network, you agree to comply with the rules in AU’s information security guide.

The university reserves the right to carry out scans of the net with a view to determine which computers are connected to it, and which services they use.

You must ensure that your computer has updated anti-virus software, and that all updates to the operating system and other security updates are installed.

You must not do anything that interferes with the operation of the wireless network. This includes using an unreasonably large percentage of the available bandwidth.

It is illegal and against university rules to copy or share films, music, software or other copyrighted material without the permission of the copyright holder.

Sanctions

AU IT may block or restrict your access to the wireless network or other IT services.
Violation of the rules may lead to disciplinary sanctions. Any breaches under criminal law, the law of torts and other punishable offences will be reported to the police.
